How do we qualify for the E&H Van Rides?
We will send you an application. Rides will be accepted while the application is being processed.

Will the drivers help riders?
Yes, they will help riders on and off the van but they do not bring wheel chairs up or down any stairs, they will go in to lobby only of a facility and only when it is safe to leave the vehicle.

How much notice is required for the van service?
The earlier you make your appointment the better chance you will have of getting service. Appointments can be made 24 hours in advance but at least three days are recommended.

Is a companion allowed to travel with the rider?
As long as the companion is not handicapped. Yes if the rider is in a wheel chair and going to a hospital or out of town there needs to be an aid to travel with rider. The companion needs to be at the pick up point also. If there is more than one aid and/or companion they will have to pay for their trip.

Where can we go with the van service?
You can go shopping (4 bag min), Medical appointments, Hair Salon anywhere in town. Out of town is strictly medical appointments only.

How much does it cost to ride the van?
In town charge is $4.00 round trip out of town is $12.00 round trip. You must pay the driver upon arrival.

 
       
    There is No Smoking, Eating or Drinking at any time on the van.  
       
    GETTING READY TO GO:
To help us keep on schedule, riders must be ready a 1/2 hour in advance of the time you have scheduled.
RETURN TRIP:
You must be ready at the time you scheduled for a return ride pickup. Your ride will arrive at that time or within 60 minutes after the scheduled time.
No Show Policy: If a rider is a No Show and the van comes to the scheduled pick up point and the rider has prepaid there will be NO REFUNDS.

If I am a permit holder and I need to drive an alternate car to the train station what should I do?
In the event you cannot drive the vehicle with the permit on it to the train station (car being repaired, etc.)please call 203-874-4507 extension 103 to tell Donna you are driving an alternate vehicle and she will direct the parking attendant to give you a temporary pass for the day.

Where on my car should the permit be placed?
Permit sticker must be permanently affixed to the right front passenger side windshield to be considered valid.

If I no longer need to use my permit can I sell it?
Stickers are not transferable. Selling, purchasing or giving away a permit that is registered to a permit holder is prohibited. If you no longer need to use your permit and there are unused months available on that permit return it to Milford Transit District (attention: Donna) for a prorated refund.

If I have a handicap tag and I am not a permit holder where can I park?
Please see the attendant in the Daily Lot for parking arrangements.

If I am a permit holder and I purchase a new car what should I do with the permit sticker?

Is overnight parking allowed:
Yes, overnight parking is allowed in all lots. Overnight parkers are urged to park in highly visible areas. If you need to park overnight see the Daily attendant or call the Milford Transit office.

Is weekend parking free?
Yes, Parking is free on weekends at all Milford Transit Districts parking lots (#1 to 4) until Sunday Midnight. Milford Transit District is not responsible for loss or damage to vehicles or property.
